Job description

Self Sufficiency Coordinator

The Self Sufficiency Coordinator supports the implementation and coordination of resident focused programs that promote economic mobility, workforce development, financial empowerment, educational advancement, and long-term self-sufficiency. This position plays a key role in coordinating partnerships, managing program logistics, supporting participant engagement, and ensuring effective program operations across AMHA's self-sufficiency initiatives. The Coordinator works collaboratively with Resident Services staff, community partners, employers, educational institutions, and service providers to connect residents to opportunities that increase income, employment, education, asset-building, and overall family stability. The position provides both administrative and direct program support to advance AMHA's mission of helping residents achieve greater economic independence and improved quality of life.

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

Program Coordination & Logistics

  • Coordinate scheduling self-sufficiency programs, workshops, job fairs, training sessions, partner meetings, and resident activities.
  • Manage participant registration processes, track attendance, and maintain case-related records, and ensure accurate program documentation.
  • Prepare and organize program materials, supplies, technology, refreshments, and facility needs for program activities.
  • Support coordination of staff, volunteers, employers, trainers, and community partners during events and workshops.
  • Assist with implementation of self-sufficiency initiatives, ensuring activities align with program goals, participant needs, and organizational priorities.
  • Support outreach efforts to recruit and retain resident participation in self-sufficiency and economic mobility services.

Resident Engagement and Economic Mobility Support

  • Assist residents in accessing programs and services related to employment, education, financial capability, entrepreneurship, homeownership readiness, digital literacy, and career advancement.
  • Support participant engagement activities designed to increase program enrollment, retention, and successful outcomes.
  • Conduct follow-up communication with participants to encourage continued engagement and achievement of individualized goals.
  • Help coordinate referrals to internal and external resources that support family stabilization and economic advancement.
  • Assist with resident workshops, coaching sessions, resource fairs, and career-focused events.
  • Promote resident awareness of available opportunities through outreach, communication, and community engagement efforts.

Data, Reporting & Documentation

  • Collect, maintain, and prepare participant and program data for internal monitoring, grant reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track program outcomes related to employment, education, income growth, financial capability, and resident self-sufficiency goals.
  • Support reporting requirements for grants, partnerships, and agency initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of participant data into designated databases and tracking systems.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical records in accordance with agency policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Coordinate logistics and communication with employers, workforce agencies, educational institutions, financial empowerment partners, social service agencies, and community organizations.
  • Support implementation of partner-led workshops, training opportunities, and resident services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for resident and partner inquiries related to self-sufficiency programming.
  • Assist in maintaining strong collaborative relationships that expand opportunities for residents.
  • Participate in community meetings, resource fairs, and partnership activities that strengthen AMHA's economic mobility efforts.

Program Support Across Multiple Initiatives

  • Assist with daily operations of Family Self Sufficiency (FSS), workforce development, educational advancement, financial empowerment, and related resident services programs
  • Support participant enrollment, goal planning activities, incentives tracking, and program milestone recognition.
  • Help organize career readiness workshops, job placement activities, educational programs, and financial literacy initiatives.
  • Provide on-site support during training programs, workshops, hiring events, and community activities.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives that advance resident self-sufficiency and economic mobility outcomes.

Administrative & Cross Program Support

  • Provide administrative support to the RS Manager Self Sufficiency Programs, including scheduling, communication, data entry and reporting and document preparation, and reporting.
  • Assist with budget tracking, procurement processes, and operational coordination for assigned programs.
  • Prepare internal updates, program summaries, participant reports, and communications
  • Support grant implementation and compliance activities as assigned.
  • Assist with agency-wide initiatives that connect self sufficiency programming with other Resident Services program areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of resident success and economic mobility objectives.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Public Administration, Education, Business, Workforce Development, or a related field or equivalent combination of education + experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience coordinating programs related to workforce development, employment services, financial empowerment, case management, education, housing, or human services.
  • Demonstrated experience with program design, implementation, tracking/outcome measurement and partnership building.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; ability to engage diverse family populations.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Valid Ohio driver license and insurability with AMHA policies, reliable transportation for travel to program sites, community partners in Summit County and surrounding area.
  • Commitment to strengthening opportunities for individuals from low-income backgrounds.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills and become proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools. Must be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.
