Job description

Senior EPC Project Controller

Ramboll is a global engineering, architecture, and consultancy company delivering sustainable solutions across industries. Our Solutions for Industry division supports complex EPC and EPCM projects across North America.

The Senior EPC Project Controller reports directly to the Project Leadership team, serving as a pivotal leader in the delivery of project controls for complex Engineering only and EPCM projects. This position provides essential subject matter expertise and strategic advisory, guiding all aspects of project control, including cost, schedule, and performance management, to ensure robust governance, forecast credibility, and compliance with contractual and client requirements. As a key member of the team, the Senior EPC Project Controller champions data-driven decision-making, proactively identifies risks and opportunities, and implements best practices in earned value management and change control. By collaborating closely with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction functions, the role drives alignment and consistency across project controls, contributing to the successful execution and delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include establishing, validating, and maintaining integrated cost, schedule, and earned value baselines aligned with contractual and client requirements; developing and operating Earned Value Management processes; providing independent challenge of forecasts, trends, and productivity assumptions; analyzing cost and schedule performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending corrective actions; integrating procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals into project financial controls and reporting; coordinating with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment across project controls; establishing and overseeing physical progress measurement methodologies in coordination with construction and field teams; managing project change control, including quantification of cost and schedule impacts for internal and client reporting; supporting contract administration activities, including change management, risk events, and claims avoidance or substantiation; developing dashboards, progress reports, and KPI scorecards for leadership and client stakeholders; ensuring compliance with Ramboll's project governance standards, financial controls, and client requirements; and serving as a project controls subject matter expert, mentoring project staff and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What success looks like in 1218 months includes project leadership having confidence in cost and schedule forecasts, with transparent and reliable EAC reporting supporting decision-making; integrated cost, schedule, procurement, and construction progress baselines being fully established and consistently maintained; earned value and performance reporting processes operating smoothly with actionable variance and trend analysis; procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals being accurately reflected and aligned with contract requirements; change and risk impacts being quantified promptly and supporting effective contract administration and client reporting; construction progress measurement methodologies being validated and trusted by project teams and leadership; the Project Controller being recognized as a trusted advisor to the Project Manager and client; and project controls systems, data quality, and standards showing measurable improvement through continuous improvement and mentoring.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field; 7+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or financial analysis within EPC or EPCM environments; demonstrated experience operating as a senior project controls advisor within integrated project teams; strong understanding of earned value management, cost control, scheduling, and change management; proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, and enterprise financial systems; excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; and preferred certifications: PMP, AACE (EVP/CEP/CCE), or CPA.
