Associate Director, Data Analysis & Visualization
The Associate Director of Data Analysis and Visualization is a member of the management team and provides strategic direction to, and manages, data analysis and visualization. They supervise demographic, spatial, data science, and visual analysts in complex analysis, visualization, and reporting that connects to planning and policy outcomes. The Associate Director coordinates with the Deputy Director to establish goals for the team, ensuring alignment with the overall planning mission of OP.

Responsibilities
Work with the Deputy Director to lead a proactive program that integrates data, spatial analysis, and visualization and supports OP’s key planning initiatives and strategic objectives.
Oversee data generation, management, and collection; research and trends analysis; forecasting; and scenario planning to advance analysis and understanding of growth and change in the District.
Lead the research and development of tools, methodologies, and platforms that synthesize demographic, housing, land use, and development data.
Manage all functions and protocols of the State Data Center, including interface with the Census Bureau and required analysis and reporting.
Represent OP with partner agencies, regional and federal entities, and other organizations, overseeing the fulfillment of requests.
Manage public outreach and education on Census data, redistricting, and other key processes, sharing information and analysis with ANCs, civic associations, and District government.
Routinely update a framework for how the agency advances its research, analytical, and visualization practices and capabilities.
Plan and assign work for direct reports, set and adjust short‑term priorities, and prepare work schedules.
Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinates.
Manage the strategic direction of the Data Visualization unit, develop project and administrative systems, including annual performance goals, metrics, initiatives, workplans, and budgets.
Qualifications
Mastery of one or more planning disciplines, including planning, demography, geography, data science, public policy, economics, or real estate analysis.
Strategic guidance experience for a multidisciplinary team.
Experience managing state‑wide data centers or similar large data repositories.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
