Development Coordinator

California (Hybrid)

Job Title: Development Coordinator

Location: Any city in California. Hybrid schedule

Term: Full-time, occasional evenings and weekends required

Position Status: Exempt

Pay Range: $70,055 - $77,328 annual, commensurate with skills and experience.

Reports To: Development Director

Organizational Summary

The mission of the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) is to uphold the humanity of immigrant communities in California by transforming systems to achieve racial, social, and economic justice. CIPC is a non-partisan, non-profit statewide organization engaging in advocacy, organizing, and strategic communications to uplift immigrant communities. CIPC was founded in response to the 1996 passage of federal immigrant and welfare laws that profoundly affected immigrants. Today, CIPC advances inclusive policies that build a prosperous future for all Californians, using policy analysis, advocacy, and capacity building.

Over the past 28 years, CIPC has led groundbreaking campaigns that have greatly expanded protections, as well as access to publicly-funded services and programs, for California's low-income immigrant populations, including but not limited to the Safe and Responsible Driver Act, the TRUST and TRUTH Acts, CA Values Act, E-Verify Bill, the Health for All campaign, California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), and One California, the largest investment in legal services protection in the country.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator will support CIPC's fundraising efforts by assisting with grant writing and reporting, donor stewardship, fundraising events, and development operations. Working under the direct supervision of the Development Director, the Development Coordinator will play a key role in implementing CIPC's annual development plan, including support for private and public grants, corporate philanthropy, individual donations, major gifts, and sponsorships.

The Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Development Director and members of the Executive and program teams to ensure timely grant submissions and reports, maintain donor relationships, and support the overall fundraising goals of the organization. This position offers an opportunity to grow professionally within the development field while contributing to an organization that advances immigrant rights and social justice.

This position may be based throughout California. Occasional travel throughout California is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Development Director in writing, editing, and submitting grant proposals and reports to private foundations, corporate funders, and government agencies

  • Support individual donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, donor communications, and updates
  • Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events, including logistics, coordination, and day-of-event support
  • Help develop written materials for donors, including appeals, newsletters, impact reports, and other communications that highlight CIPC's mission and work
  • Coordinate with the Communications Department to create multimedia resources for development purposes
  • Support digital marketing and fundraising campaigns, including email appeals and social media fundraising
  • Maintain and update CIPC's development and marketing materials
  • Assist with materials preparation for Board meetings as needed
  • Track grant deliverables and communicate critical calendar milestones to relevant program staff
  • Provide administrative support to the Development Director and executive team, including scheduling meetings with donors and foundation officers
  • Support sponsorship cultivation for CIPC's conferences, regional trainings, and special events
  • Assist with donor database management and generate reports as needed
  • Represent CIPC at organizational functions and events as appropriate
  • Support the development team and administrative departments tracking deliverables and programmatic activities to support fundraising and development growth
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, grant writing, or related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights, racial and economic justice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling grant proposals and donor communications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Experience with grant writing and reporting preferred
  • Experience with donor database management and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Google Drive
  • Experience working with immigrant rights organizations, social justice organizations, or community-based groups preferred
  • Proficiency in non-English languages spoken by Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, African, Caribbean, or Arab communities a plus
  • Ability to travel on short notice
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle or alternate transportation is preferred, as this position may require driving
