## About the Role Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to train frontier models on high-quality legal reasoning data. We welcome practitioners across these specialty areas — in-house specialists, partners and senior associates at firms, and former government / agency attorneys are all encouraged to apply. ## What You'll Do - Design realistic specialty scenarios drawn from your practice (RE purchase and leasing, M&A tax structuring, Ch. 11 petitions, estate planning, plus the workflows that define your area) - Write "golden" reference responses at attorney-level quality - Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics - Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior - Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions ## You're a Good Fit If You - Have 3+ years of professional experience in one of the following specialties: - **Real Estate** — commercial leasing, residential and commercial purchase agreements, title opinions, UCC liens, 1031 exchanges, zoning - **Tax** — M&A tax structuring, IRS controversy, SALT nexus analysis, transfer pricing, 501(c)(3) applications, 280G, partnership/LLC tax allocations - **Bankruptcy / Restructuring** — Ch. 11 petitions, DIP financing, 363 asset sales, plans of reorganization, automatic stay relief - **Trusts & Estates** — estate planning, will drafting, trust formation, trust administration - Hold a J.D. (U.S) or LL.B./LL.M. from an accredited law school - Are licensed to practice law in the U.S.(active or inactive) - Demonstrate excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail ## Bonus Qualifications - Cross-specialty experience (multiple practice areas) - LL.M. in Tax or Estate Planning - In-house experience at a real estate developer, financial institution, or wealth management firm - Bankruptcy court experience or trustee work ## Role Highlights - Minimum 20 hours per week (ideally 40+) - Fully remote - must be based in the United States, Canada, or United Kingdom - Role starts immediately, applications reviewed on a rolling basis ## Compensation - $85–$120/hr
