We're seeking a strong Sourcing Specialist with NPI experience who will take ownership of this position during the 6 - 9 months contract.
The most important part of this role is going to be sourcing. We're seeking someone who has aerospace experience finding lower cost suppliers for components and partnering with quality and engineering to enable alternate materials, processes, and suppliers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist, NPI (Contractor) is responsible for driving material cost reduction and affordability for New Product Introduction (NPI). This role partners closely with R&D engineering, program management, supply chain and quality to embed design-to-cost principles, challenge supplier pricing, and establish a cost-competitive supply base capable of transitioning to production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead sourcing strategies for NPI and development programs from concept through production readiness
Drive design-to-cost and early supplier engagement with engineering to influence specifications, tolerances, materials, and processes
Conduct competitive RFQs and negotiations focused on unit cost, tooling amortization, and long-term pricing agreements
Identify and qualify lower-cost, compliant suppliers while managing technical and program risk
Partner with quality and engineering to enable alternate materials, processes, and suppliers
Support cost targets, affordability goals, and business case development for programs
Track, validate, and report hard dollar savings and cost avoidance
Leverage Dover Supply Base and resources as needed
Ensure sourcing actions remain compliant with AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and customer flow-downs
Support transition to production with locked pricing, cost curves, and savings roadmaps
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
5+ years of strategic sourcing or cost-focused supply chain experience in Aerospace & Defense or other regulated manufacturing environments
Demonstrated success delivering measurable cost reductions in NPI or development programs
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers (machining, fabrication, electronics, special processes)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications
Working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, and regulated sourcing environments
Proven ability to operate independently and influence cross-functional teams
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
Experience supporting ATE market affordability initiatives
Background in manufacturing engineering, cost engineering, or operations
Experience negotiating long-term agreements
