Position Purpose:
As a Home Services Sales Consultant, you will play a vital role in showcasing and selling our exterior and interior products and services. Your main responsibility will be engaging with customers through outside sales visits to their homes and at trade shows. You will spend the majority of your time traveling and conducting in-person consultations, outside of a conventional office environment.
You will assess customer needs, offer tailored product recommendations, negotiate customized price quotes, and present warranty information along with financing options. You will also handle required sales contracts and perform measurements to ensure that all orders meet the installation specifications required.
Your role will also involve actively reaching out to potential customers within assigned stores and during various industry events, such as Home Shows. To foster growth and drive sales, you will maintain local relationships and educate store associates about our Home Depot Interior Services offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in outside sales activities, primarily through customer home visits, delivering professional and compelling sales presentations.
- Adapt to changing customer needs while effectively promoting our solutions.
- Conduct thorough assessments, develop customized pricing, take necessary measurements, and prepare for appointments.
- Proactively seek new referrals and build relationships within assigned stores, including participation in industry events.
- Attend regular sales and store meetings to enhance your sales techniques and knowledge of product offerings.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position typically reports to the Sales Manager.
- No direct reports for this position.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional overnight travel, typically about 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing or walking for extended periods; may involve lifting materials or equipment weighing between 8 to 20 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Most work is performed in a comfortable environment, though there may be exposure to moderate physical discomfort from dust, fumes, or odors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in in-home or virtual sales.
- Background in the home improvement industry.
- Proven track record of successful lead generation.
- Familiarity with technology and applications (e.g., email, iPad, apps).
Minimum Education:
- A high school diploma or GED is typically required.
