SUMMARY

Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and pragmatic QA Engineer to join our Products Team. This role is responsible for helping ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our web applications through a thoughtful mix of manual testing, regression coverage, bug investigation, and test automation.

The ideal candidate has experience testing both front-end and back-end web applications, validating data across systems, and using SQL to query and verify application data. You should be comfortable testing APIs, investigating production issues, and partnering closely with engineering, product, and design teams to identify risks and focus testing effort where it matters most. We value candidates who communicate clearly, move with urgency when needed, and use good judgment to balance speed, coverage, and business impact. Experience using AI tools to improve QA workflows, test design, investigation, or productivity is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Web Application Testing: Test front-end and back-end web application functionality across new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Regression Testing: Execute and maintain regression test coverage to support reliable releases and reduce the risk of defects reaching production.
  • API Testing: Validate APIs for correctness, reliability, and data integrity using manual and/or automated testing approaches.
  • Data Validation: Verify application data across interfaces, services, and databases to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • SQL Querying: Write and use SQL queries to inspect, validate, and troubleshoot application data in support of testing and investigation.
  • Bug Investigation and Triage: Investigate defects identified in testing and production, help reproduce issues, document findings clearly, and support triage with engineering teams.
  • Risk-Based Testing: Apply sound judgment to determine the appropriate level of testing based on the risk, complexity, and potential business or user impact of a change.
  • Test Automation: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of automated tests using Selenium or similar tools where automation adds value.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and improve product quality.
  • Process Improvement: Help improve QA processes, test strategies, and release confidence through better documentation, tooling, and communication.
  • AI-Assisted QA: Use AI tools where helpful to improve test case creation, exploratory testing, defect analysis, automation, or general productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience testing both front-end and back-end web applications.
  • Experience with API testing.
  • Experience with data validation and verifying data across systems.
  • Familiarity with writing and using SQL queries to validate and troubleshoot application data.
  • Experience performing regression testing.
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium or comparable frameworks.
  • Experience investigating defects and helping triage production issues.
  • Ability to evaluate testing depth and prioritize effort based on risk and impact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing modern web applications in Agile development environments.
  • Experience with performance, load, or scalability testing for web applications.
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools, test management platforms, and bug tracking systems.
  • Exposure to CI/CD workflows and how testing fits into automated delivery pipelines.
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineers on root cause analysis and defect prevention.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate or improve QA workflows, documentation, test generation, or issue investigation.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good judgment and a practical, strategic approach to testing.
  • Ability to move quickly and stay organized in time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and learning.
