Your Impact

As Axon's Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for providing Quality Engineering support for all Axon products including : Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW), Cartridges, Body Worn Cameras and accessories. You will be responsible for working with suppliers in cooperation with Axon Design Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain. Other significant impacts will come from collaborating on the selection of qualified suppliers, leading the efforts to quantify and improve supplier performance, and providing a positive impact on the quality of new and existing products through a global footprint.

What You'll Do

Location : Scottsdale / Phoenix, AZ

Reports to : Sr. Supplier Quality Manager, North America

Direct Reports : none

  • Responsible for supplier quality engineering (SQE) deliverables to support mechanical category sourcing strategies, continuity of production, and supplier-related quality issues investigation.
  • Experience in plastic injection molding, machining, mechanical assemblies preferred. Knowledge in GD&T, tooling / fixture development, design for manufacturability (DFM). Partner with engineering and sourcing teams to ensure part manufacturability with supplier involvement.
  • Lead SQE efforts in supplier continuous improvement initiatives to accomplish better quality, cost reduction, capacity expansion, dual sourcing, and risk mitigation.
  • Engage partnerships with suppliers (including sub-tiers) and supply chain management (SCM) to drive superior supplier performance and accountability.
  • Experience in supplier selection, supplier production part approval process (PPAP), DOE, process capability analysis, G R&R / MSA, control plan, SPC, Supplier OQC-IQC, as well as supplier performance monitoring and improvement with KPIs / metrics.
  • Lead root cause analysis of supplier-related non-conforming product issues to address and resolve quality concerns via Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR). Drive corrective action and supplier improvement activities that directly impact performance for assigned suppliers.
  • Coordinate review, technical assessment, and documentation for supplier change requests.
  • Perform supplier quality management system (QMS), process capability audits and complete audit reports.
  • Ability to set goals with a proactive approach to complete assignments in a timely, effective, and high-quality manner.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communicator for complex problems, execution plan, progress report out, and escalation to supplier quality leadership and all levels in the organization.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of progressive work experience in supplier quality, quality, manufacturing, or engineering with a mechanical component focus.
  • Excellent analytical problem solver with proficiency in statistical software (e.g. Minitab) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated strong project leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • ASQ certified and Lean Six Sigma trained a plus.
  • Travel up to 25% to supplier sites as required
