Position Overview :

Our client, a non-profit, 222-bed licensed hospital located a short drive from Lexington, KY, is seeking a Trauma Program Manager. This role is integral to the hospital's emergency department, which handles over 27,000 visits annually, and includes a 19-bed ER with a 5-bed fast track area. The facility is an ACS-verified Level III trauma center, supported by 32.5 full-time employees (FTEs).

Job Summary :

The Trauma Program Manager is a nursing professional responsible for clinical, educational, research, administrative, and quality improvement activities within the trauma program. Reporting to the director or their designee, this role utilizes the nursing process, adheres to nursing standards, and follows physicians' orders to plan and deliver care. The manager is expected to embody patient and family-centered care, emphasizing compassion, competence, communication, and collaboration. They will also participate in shared leadership, promoting positive outcomes and ensuring the dignity, respect, and safety of patients and their families. Additionally, this role includes charge nurse responsibilities and adherence to core values of Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust (F.I.R.S.T.).

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Education : BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • Experience : At least two years of experience in emergency nursing.
  • Licenses / Certifications :
  • Current Kentucky nursing license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of employment.
  • Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) required within one year of hire.
  • Annual trauma, stroke, and cardiac education (provided on-site).
  • Note : Expired ACLS or PALS limits care to non-critical patients; expired TNCC or ENPC restricts participation in trauma team activities.
