Experience Required: 10+ years preferred, with significant hydraulic or pneumatic component design and new product development experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

The ideal candidate is an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who has progressed into a Project Engineering or Project Management role and has substantial hands-on experience designing and developing hydraulic or pneumatic components.

The strongest candidates will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Significant experience with hydraulic actuators, pneumatic actuators, or related fluid-power components.

  • At least three years of project engineering or project management experience.

  • The ability to coordinate cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • The ability to work onsite at an approved Southern California location.

Critical hiring priority: Significant hydraulic or pneumatic component design and NPD experience, supported by a manufacturing background, is essential. Aerospace experience is preferred; candidates from other industries may be considered if their technical experience is relevant.

The Lead Project Engineer – Aerospace Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems will support new product development and product improvement projects within Eaton Aerospace's Fluid, Motion & Control division.

The engineer will collaborate with designers, engineers, fabrication teams, supply chain, test laboratories, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to develop, analyze, process, manufacture, and implement product designs throughout the product development lifecycle.

The role is suited to an experienced mechanical design professional who combines technical depth in hydraulic or pneumatic systems with project engineering capabilities and practical manufacturing knowledge.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Significant experience in hydraulic or pneumatic actuator/component design and new product development.

  • Manufacturing experience is required.

  • At least three years of project engineering or project management experience.

  • Experience with hydraulic or fluid-power components, including relevant pumps, actuators, valves, manifolds, accumulators, power units, reservoirs, filtration systems, or fluid connectors.

  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday at Glendale, Torrance, or Irvine, California.

  • Residence within 50 miles of one of the approved work locations.

  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status (Green Card).

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and testing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace industry experience.

  • Five or more years of experience with hydraulic or pneumatic actuators and related components.

  • Career progression from Senior Mechanical Design Engineer into Project Engineering or Project Management.

  • Experience supporting aerospace new product development.

  • Experience working with Integrated Product Teams.

  • Familiarity with engineering analysis, fabrication, manufacturing processes, and product testing.
