Job description

Labor Relations Manager

Relate Search has partnered with a well-established industrial organization to identify a Labor Relations Manager who will serve as the organization's primary labor relations leader across its unionized operations. This individual will work closely with operations, Human Resources, and executive leadership to shape labor strategy, strengthen employee relations, and navigate complex workforce matters. From leading collective bargaining negotiations to advising leaders on contract interpretation and workplace issues, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both business performance and employee engagement while helping position the organization for long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization's labor relations strategy, serving as the primary advisor on collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance resolution, and arbitration while building productive relationships with union leadership.
  • Partner with business and Human Resources leaders to provide practical guidance on employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, policy interpretation, accommodations, and employment-related matters.
  • Develop proactive employee and labor relations initiatives that strengthen leadership capabilities, improve employee engagement, and reduce organizational risk across both union and non-union environments.
  • Represent the organization in complex labor matters, including negotiations, arbitration proceedings, and interactions with government agencies, while working to achieve timely, business-focused resolutions.
  • Monitor labor and employment compliance while collaborating across the organization to implement consistent practices, support workforce initiatives, and ensure alignment with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor or legal background is considered a plus.
  • Five or more years of progressive labor relations experience, including collective bargaining, contract negotiations, grievance administration, and arbitration.
  • Strong working knowledge of labor and employment laws with experience advising leaders on complex workplace issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, build credibility with multiple stakeholders, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office; bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.
