Functional Title : Junior Python Developer – Automation & Internal Tools Corporate Title : Associate Location : Orinda, CA Compensation : Base salary of$70,000 - $80,000 (based on experience) + eligibility for a Discretionary Bonus Technical Requirements Current Tech Stack & Tools in Use Languages & Frameworks Python – Primary language for automation, data processing, and internal tools VBA – Used for maintaining and modernizing legacy systems React, Django, Flask – Full-stack web frameworks Libraries & Tools Pandas – Data transformation and Excel integration OpenPyXL / XlsxWriter – Excel automation Tkinter / CustomTkinter – GUI applications Selenium – Web scraping and automation Regex – Complex string parsing SQL (SQLite) – Lightweight storage for internal tools and dashboards XML / ElementTree – Config and log handling Outlook Automation (win32com) – Compliance and exception reporting PowerShell / Batch / WinSCP – Scripting and file transfer Bloomberg API (blpapi) – Financial data access AI Model Integration (e.g., ChatGPT API) – Intelligent parsing and assistance Project Areas Financial data parsing and validation Automation and internal tooling Web scraping / RPA DevOps scripting and process automation Ideal Junior Developer Skill Profile Proficiency with Python and VBA (1 to 2 years’ experience) Experience with Pandas and Excel-based workflows Familiarity with GUI frameworks such as Tkinter or Streamlit Exposure to Selenium, regex, and REST APIs Comfort with scripting, command line, and basic DevOps workflows Interest in working with legacy systems; VBA experience is a strong plus Bonus : Background in finance or market concepts (options, CUSIPs, delta, etc.) Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences Proficient in relational database design and querying Strong programming skills, especially in Python, with working knowledge of at least one other language (e.g., VBA, R, C#, JavaScript, SQL) Understanding of financial markets and the operational needs of an investment firm Ability to integrate programming with Microsoft Office, DevOps tools, and database management Experience with full-stack development and building tools for non-technical users Familiarity with IT security practices, including securing databases and websites Experience working with Microsoft Azure and Active Directory Core Responsibilities Design and develop reporting tools that integrate with Microsoft Office Build intuitive automation scripts and user interfaces for business users Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams Help modernize and maintain legacy systems, rewriting critical code when needed Support internal automation efforts across data parsing, reporting, and compliance workflows Write technical documentation and research relevant industry best practices Location & Hours : Orinda, CA (San Francisco Bay Area) 7 : 30 am to 3 : 00pm PT Penserra is an equal opportunity employer.
