Responsibilities and Duties
This position will be a key member of our development team and play a significant role in the development and maintenance of Improv, our point-of-sale Lester Building Design and Pricing program, structural analysis tools, and other internal productivity tools vital to the long-term success of Lester. We are looking for a talented software development engineer to join our team managing and evolving our suite of business critical VB.NET applications. Initial on-site work is required for training and team integration. As one becomes established in the role, we offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to transition to a hybrid work arrangement.
- Development and maintenance of Improv’s structural design, building modeling and detailing modules
- Development and maintenance of standalone programs for structural analysis and design of the complete building as well as structural components
- Development and maintenance of internal productivity programs for producing manufacturing shop orders and instructions
- Develop and maintain user interfaces, databases, and reports
- Test software to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements
- Provide user support and training
- Collect information from users regarding software requirements
- Collaboration with the software development team, production engineering and drafting teams
- Make recommendations to improve existing systems by using new methods of technology
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience within the wood construction industry
- A bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, software development or related field; or equivalent work-related technical experience
- A minimum of 3 years of user interface development
- More than 3 years of experience in application development using Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 or newer
- Strong knowledge of VB.NET and Microsoft Windows desktop applications
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming and design including extensive use of objects and inheritance
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or newer and Transact SQL
- Improv utilizes a detailed virtual building model hence strong mathematics skills including spatial relationships, geometry, trigonometry, and critical thinking are required
- Strong desire for technical ownership and accountability for a project.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on end to end development in a dynamic, agile environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and NUnit for CI/CD
- Experience with C#, Microsoft. NET and best practices
- Working knowledge of third-party API integrations
- Experience with graphics engines (such as AutoCAD or VectorDraw), engineering or drafting in the wood construction industry
- Knowledge of Azure Cloud services including blob storage, key vaults, writing and consuming APIs, app registrations and Azure SQL
- Working knowledge of Epicor ERP or equivalent
Salary Range
Annual salary of $80,000 to $110,000. This represents a good faith estimate of the current salary range based on the role. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary by individual qualifications including relevant job knowledge, education skills and experience.
