Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Overview Special education has been a federally mandated program to serve educationally disabled children, ages 3 to 21, since passage of Public Law 94-142, also known as the Equal Education for the Handicapped Act in 1975, and preauthorized and re-titled in 1990 as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). As a result of this mandate, the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) presently provides education services for students identified as having mild to profound disabilities. The identification of an educational disability and the necessary services to be provided to address the student's needs is a function of a "staffing" process. The staffing involves parents, school administrators, regular education teacher(s), special education personnel and the student when appropriate. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) for the student is developed by the staffing team and reviewed yearly with modification made if needed.

Philosophy It is SVVSD's philosophy that students with disabilities should be educated with their peers in their neighborhood school unless their needs are better addressed through a more specialized educational environment. St. Vrain Valley offers a continuum of services delivered by special education staff members ranging from consultation with regular education teachers to varying amounts of direct services to students with disabilities depending on need. These support services are provided through building level special education staff and itinerated related service providers (i.e. speech/language, occupational therapists, etc.) FTE: 1.0 Hours per day: 7 Days per year: 223

Summary The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides specialized behavioral expertise to support students with significant behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive needs in the school setting. The BCBA partners with school teams through student-centered coaching, assessment, intervention development, and direct support to strengthen student programming and staff capacity. The BCBA may also develop and support implementation of FBAs and BIPs and provide guidance and supervision to RBTs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides student-centered consultation, coaching, and behavioral expertise to school teams to strengthen student programming and the consistent implementation of behavioral supports across educational environments.

Takes a leadership role in supporting school teams with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and the development, implementation, and monitoring of function-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs/BSPs), including supporting implementation fidelity.

Provides direct behavioral support to students, including observation, modeling, intervention, skill development, and support during periods of significant behavioral need.

Collects, analyzes, and supports school teams in using behavioral data to identify student needs, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and make data-informed adjustments to programming.

Collaborates with school-based multidisciplinary teams and district special education leadership to evaluate and strengthen the quality of behavioral programming and learning environments using evidence-based practices and applicable program evaluation tools.

Provides professional development, coaching, modeling, and feedback to certified and classified staff in areas including behavior analysis, data collection, prevention and intervention strategies, and implementation of behavioral supports.

Provides training, direction, and supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), as assigned, and supports their effective integration within school-based educational teams.

Collaborates with families, educators, administrators, related service providers, and outside providers, as appropriate, to promote coordinated, student-centered behavioral supports and communicate student needs, progress, and resources.

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst
• 3 years experience in working with public schools (preferred)

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

• Colorado BCBA License
• U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9)
• Criminal background check required for hire.

Technical Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Knowledge of IDEA, disability areas, and behavioral requirements within the public school setting.
• Advanced knowledge of applied behavior analysis, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), data collection, and progress monitoring.
• Ability to apply behavior analytic principles within educational environments and develop practical, student-centered behavioral supports.
• Ability to effectively collaborate, coach, and provide feedback to multidisciplinary school teams, families, and staff.
• Experience providing behavioral services in a public school setting (preferred).
