Job description

Under the direction of a Senior Management Auditor (SMA), Audits and Investigations Division, the Associate Management Auditor (AMA) reviews Certified Public Accountant (CPA) audit reports and may perform field audits and program reviews of non-profit agencies or entities independently, as part of a team, or as a lead auditor. This is the journey person level position which requires higher level of skills than that of the Staff Services Management Auditor. The incumbent performs the following duties :

This involves prioritizing tasks, reviewing financial statements, and identifying discrepancies and areas where agencies can improve their operations and reporting practices. Assist in revising guidance materials. Respond to external inquiries regarding audit report reviews. Based on the results of audit report reviews, prepare comprehensive memorandums to communicate issues to CDE programs. Assist the SMA in attending audit report review meetings.

Plan, develop, and discuss with the SMA the objectives, scope, and criteria for assigned audits or reviews. Research and document applicable criteria, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Recommend to the SMA and / or lead auditor any revisions to audit methods, and inform them of progress, proposed additional review areas, and other factors affecting the operation and timeliness of work completion. Ensure work is completed within predetermined budgeted hours, properly supported, and when appropriate, sufficient to enable a conclusion and recommendation. The auditor may travel state-wide via car or plane, up to 25%, including overnight stays.

Meet the continuing professional education requirements, per GAGAS, to maintain technical competence in conducting audit and audit-related assignments.
