OFFICIAL TITLE: Board Certified Behavior Analyst WORK YEAR: 210 Days WORKING TITLE:BCBA REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Education or designee CLASS DESCRIPTION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: This position is accountable for consultation, observation, assessment, supervision, evaluations and behavior plan development to support teachers, related service professionals, building principals and Para-Educators. The BCBA is a clinician who educates, observes, assesses and supervises the behavioral application and implementation of behaviorally based interventions within the educational environment. The BCBA must have a solid knowledge of the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis including general behavioral assessment and Ethical Standards in Behavior Analysis. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: 1.Candidates must hold the appropriate BCBA MA certification KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1. Demonstrated ability to interact appropriately with students and families. 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including reporting writing. 3. Proven ability to work well independently with little supervision and as a team, working cooperatively with colleagues and stakeholders. 4. Strong organizational and time management skills. 5. Excellent clinical and leadership skills. 6. Experience supporting students of varying ages (3years old - 22 years old) with varying diagnosis and levels of functions in a school environment strongly preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Administers, conducts, evaluates and supervises the implementation of behavioral assessment measures and functional assessment measures. 2. Conducts functional behavior assessments and uses the information to develop behavior plans and make recommendations. 3. Ensures appropriate behavioral data systems are implemented such that quantifiable behavioral data is collected at regular intervals to all for the continual evaluation of behavior plans and the achievement of goals and objectives. 4. Provide routine consultation and training to school staff for interventions based on published research and designs. Supervise the consistent application and implementation of behavioral interventions to ensure fidelity. 5. Model behavioral interventions and coaching strategies for teachers, related service providers and para-educators. 6. Design and maintain behavior intervention plans. 7. Supervise in home ABA therapy. Provide parent and staff training as recommended during school hours. 8. Participate in Team meetings and collaborate with Team members in determining student eligibility, developing student goals, objectives and recommending services consistent with the individual needs of the students. 9. Develop individualized goals and objectives for educational needs. 10. Communicate with parents/guardians to discuss student progress. Follow Federal and state regulations and district procedures for special education, meet timelines and ensure a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). 11. Supervise/evaluate support staff as directed. 12. Serve as a trainer in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) protocols or any other District adopted de-escalation and behavior management programs. 13. Performs such duties as deemed necessary and relevant to students needs as directed by the Executive Director of Special Education or designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-Union Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 annually PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing): The employee must have the ability to quickly keep pace with students, grades PreK - 12 and have the stamina to stay alert and engaged in therapy and/or de-escalation sessions. The employee is required to talk, hear and use close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to quickly adjust focus. Frequent fine motor use such as typing, writing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, running. May lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.): May need to attend after school hours training, events and/or meetings on occasion and as scheduled.
