The Senior Specialist, Telecom Practice Group, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm's strategic initiatives, plays a central role in organizing, managing, and extracting insights from large, complex bodies of regulatory and commercial materials gathered from jurisdictions around the world. The Sr Specialist designs and maintains AI-assisted databases and knowledge management systems, leverages AI tools, particularly Harvey and Microsoft Copilot, to accelerate research and analysis and automate workflows to enhance the efficiency and quality of the practice group's work product. This individual thrives at the intersection of law, technology, and data and wants to help shape the future of legal service delivery.

This position can sit in our New York, Washington DC, or Boston office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge Management & Information Architecture

    • Organize, catalog, and maintain large, complex bodies of telecom regulatory and commercial survey materials gathered from multiple jurisdictions worldwide, ensuring materials are structured for efficient retrieval and analysis.

    • Design, build, and continuously improve AI-assisted databases and knowledge management systems that enable attorneys and practice group members to readily extract insights from high-volume survey materials.

    • Develop and maintain standardized taxonomies, tagging systems, and information architectures to support the practice group's expanding portfolio of multi-jurisdictional regulatory and transactional work.

  • AI-Driven Research & Analysis

    • Use AI tools particularly Harvey and Microsoft Copilot to analyze regulatory and commercial materials, generate insights, identify trends, and support attorney work product across a wide range of telecom matters.

    • Leverage AI capabilities to synthesize complex regulatory and commercial information from multiple jurisdictions into clear, actionable summaries, comparative analyses, and reports.

    • Stay current on emerging AI tools, features, and best practices, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance the practice group's use of technology.

  • Workflow Automation & Efficiency

    • Identify, design, and implement automated workflows using AI and productivity tools (including Microsoft 365, Harvey, Copilot, and other available platforms) to streamline administrative, research, and document management processes.

    • Develop templates, macros, and automated processes for recurring tasks such as regulatory filings, survey compilation, data extraction, and report generation.

    • Collaborate with attorneys and other team members to continuously improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort across the practice group.

  • Practice Group Support

    • Provide comprehensive administrative, research, and operational support to the Telecom practice group, including preparing reports, analyses, and multi-jurisdictional surveys.

    • Create, edit, and maintain documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other work product as required.

    • Assist with document management systems, including updating, organizing, and collating documents, brochures, and other materials.

    • Attend and participate in team meetings to stay informed of practice group objectives, recent developments, and upcoming projects.

    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, attorneys, business professionals, and third parties.

    • Participate in special projects as needed.

Desired Skills

Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI tools in a professional setting, with specific experience using Harvey and/or Microsoft Copilot strongly preferred. Interest in and aptitude for emerging legal technology, AI, and innovation in legal service delivery. Proven ability to design, build, and manage databases, knowledge management systems, or structured information repositories. Strong information architecture skills, including experience developing taxonomies, tagging systems, and organizational frameworks for large document sets. Ability to synthesize complex regulatory and commercial materials from multiple jurisdictions into clear, organized, and actionable formats.

Experience automating workflows using AI tools, Microsoft 365 (including advanced Excel, Power Automate, SharePoint, or similar), or other productivity platforms. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce timely, accurate, and high-quality work product. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, fostering positive working relationships across a distributed team.

Experience with telecom regulatory matters or familiarity with telecom and satellite engineering is helpful but not required. Familiarity with legal technology platforms and document management systems is preferred.

Minimum Education

Preferred Education

  • Master's Degree in Information Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 4 years' experience in a law firm, professional services environment, legislative setting, federal agency, or corporate legal department, with substantial exposure to telecommunications, regulatory, or technology-related matters.
