An educational setting is seeking a Substitute Paraprofessional who meets state-level certification thresholds and brings proven classroom support experience. This role involves stepping into instructional support and student supervision during absences of regular paraprofessional staff.
Responsibilities / Duties :
Provide instructional assistance under the direction of certified teachers during day-to-day substitute assignments
Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce curriculum in reading, writing, math, and other subjects
Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and classroom learning centers
Monitor student behavior, especially during transitions, lunch / recess, or non-instructional times, and support positive behavior strategies
Record observations of student participation, behavior and progress and communicate relevant information to teacher or coordinator
Adapt to different classroom environments, grade levels and instructional styles with flexibility
Qualifications / Desired Experience :
Minimum : test score of 455 or higher OR Pearson assessment score of 220 or higher
AND one of the following : Associate of Arts degree OR 72 quarter hours / 48 semester hours of college credit
Previous paraprofessional experience in a K-12 setting is required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with students and instructional staff
Reliability, flexibility and readiness to accept short-notice substitute assignments
Professional demeanor, confidentiality and adherence to school protocols
