Freight Claims Specialist

The primary focus of the Claims Specialist is to execute the filing, reconciliation, and closure of all freight claims. Please note that previous freight claims experience is required.

What you'll do :

• Review submitted claims paperwork for accuracy.
• Manage claims for a set of customers as assigned every 6 months by Senior Manager Claims.
• Assist carrier partner and / or customer service with investigation to decide whether a carrier claim exists.
• File all claims using the EZ Claims software.
• Update EZ claims with current claims status.
• Review carrier claims denials to ensure accuracy and escalates as needed.
• Understand NMFC, limits of liability and carrier rules tariffs
• Negotiate with carriers as needed to resolve claims and obtain the best possible result for our customer.
• Work with Sales and customers on claims questions education, and any items to help our customer base with claims issues.
• Provide claim resolution details to management, customer service, and finance / accounting.
• Meet Yearly KPI’s as set forth by Senior Claims Manager
• Fully understand all the claims accounting processes, claims specialists-entry level follows, and help as needed.

What we need :

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain and / or finance field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum two years operational logistics, with prior claims experience is required
• Knowledge in LTL and FTL is required
• Strong communication skills, professional demeanor on phone calls and in emails to a wide variety of professionals at all levels
• Must have excellent PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
• Goal oriented, always willing to seek knowledge and improve upon skills in order to drive new ideas
• Ability to work independently, be highly motivated and be self-starter
• Possess a positive and a professionally persistent attitude required to build relationships and gain cooperation from various departments and external partners.
