Safety OfficerPOSITION DESCRIPTION : Under general supervision, undertakes and performs a variety of high level job site observation, evaluation, assessment, and training-related functions associated with the Safety : -Responds to reports of incidents, accidents and other safety-related concerns-Conducts accident investigations, post accident drug program review, and other overall to job site specific issues-Takes photographs and videos, develops sketches / drawings, and / or performs other recording activities as assigned.
- Interviews witnesses, observers, and others regarding incidents / activities -Develops, writes, and presents findings, conclusions and results of investigations-Proposes, as required, additional training programs, procedures, policies or other items needed resulting from an investigation-Conducts unscheduled and / or regular walk through inspections of project job sites.
- Develops and / or provides training on general and / or specific safety subjects-Conducts regularly scheduled and / or unscheduled safety audits.
- Provides updates and reports on safety efforts and results to Safety / Risk Manager.-Evaluates and communicates safety procedures to field employees.
- Conducts and / or participates in site-specific weekly safety meetings and pre-task planning efforts (PTP) or job hazard analysis (JHA)-Evaluates effectiveness of tool box talks and makes recommendations.
- Inspects job site PPE and other work related tools and equipment for proper suitability for use.-Identifies and recommends enhancements to current job site safety topics-Develops training curriculum and / or identifies / recommends outside training resources-As assigned, provides input and assistance in budget development, purchases, and procurement-Assumes responsibility, as assigned, for specific safety programs, activities, and details.
- Any other job or project related assignments that may be necessary.QUALIFICATIONS : A high school diploma or equivalent and at least two (2) years of recent, relevant experience conducting safety audits, inspections, job site analysis, safety program development / presentation or any combination of education and experience from which essential function duties will have been obtained.
- Knowledge of basic applicable Federal, state and local statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes and other governing requirements -Knowledge of intermediate to advanced principles, trends and practices in job site safety and security-Knowledge of Occupational Safety Hazard Act (OSHA) requirements, OSHA 10, 30.
- Knowledge of trade worker education and training practices, approaches, and requirements.
