Research & Development Engineer II
Location : Greater Houston Texas
Company :
- Headquartered in Europe with 1100+ employees, 125+ onsite at the US base operations facility in Houston, Texas.
- Appliances, Electrical, and Electronics Manufacturing focused on combustion or explosion prevention in hazardous processes, environments, or equipment.
Compensation :
- $75,000 - $125,000 base salary commensurate with level of education, industry, or relevant experience.
- Annual bonus based off of company and personal performance.
Duties
- Design and develop complex electrical / mechanical control, power distribution panels, and systems for hazardous (classified) locations
- Designing, implementing, or improving electrical schematics, interconnections, and assembly drawings
- Ensuring that project scope and content are defined during the initial design process
- Direct activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to the customer's specifications and requirements
- Establish design criteria for each project using required codes and standards
- Review specifications to ensure technical and regulatory compliance
- Ensure all design changes are documented and transmitted to internal and external resources
- Conferring with customers (internal / external) and reviewing all the necessary information to understand the project requirements
- Perform various engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment
- Provide production with technical assistance
- Provide technical support during testing
- Review and approve engineering documentation provided by external groups
- Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials
- Supervising or training project team members
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- 3-5 years in technical product design or development role
- Experience in both office and test laboratory settings
- Experience with CAD package (AutoCAD, etc.)
- Preferred, experience with 3D modeling system (Solidworks or equal)
- Familiar with technical Norms and Standards (ANSI, UL, FM, NFPA, etc.)
- Familiar with electrical controls and installations
- Preferred previous experience with Hazardous Location Equipment
- Must be able to produce technical drawings and technical documentation as assigned or required for each project
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and have excellent communication skills
- Must be familiar with electrical controls and installations
