GAI Consultants has a career-building opportunity for a Senior Project Civil Engineer within our Power Business Unit’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Business Sector.

This position is eligible for GAI’s flexible Hybrid workplace place / Telework Policy and a Sign-on Bonus. This position will be based out of GAI’s Glen Allen, VA office.

GAI’s Power Business Unit focuses on developing and supporting Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients.

Job Duties :

Plans, designs, and facilitates civil engineer project design tasks such as site grading and drainage design; access road design;

erosion and sediment pollution control design; stormwater management design; report preparation; and permitting.

  • Performs technical and feasibility studies.
  • Collaborates with other professionals and discusses requirements with team members.
  • Uses computer programs to develop detailed designs.
  • Ensures that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Performs work with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Handles complex issues and refers only the most complex issues to more experienced staff.
  • Possesses strong working knowledge of civil engineering design tasks and a positive attitude.
  • Possesses strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.
  • Performs moderate to complex civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience.
  • Mentor, guide and check the work of less experienced staff.
  • Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Adhere to the safety and quality procedures of GAI and our clients.
  • Travel to other offices / meet with clients / attend project-specific meetings.

Physical Requirements :

Physical requirements of the job include hiking moderate distances through unimproved terrain, utility rights-of-way, in remote areas, etc.
