SUMMARY :
The Senior Application Systems Analyst’s role is responsible for?analyzing, designing, and implementing application systems that support core organizational functions.
The Senior Application Systems Analyst manages projects, implements new applications, and provides technical support. The Senior Application Systems Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT application systems.
This position reports to the Director of Technology Systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Application Systems Management
- Collaborate with executive team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define District requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve systems issues.
- Supervise system upgrades or new installations.
- Manage the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
- Analyze and evaluate the configuration of existing systems including but not limited to Apple and Google MDM solutions.
- Analyze and evaluate the system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
- Define and analyze system problems, design, and test standards, and propose solutions.
- Manage, troubleshoot, and support Apple devices and Apple infrastructure.
- Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Manage and monitor device deployment for all Apple devices.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by the Director of Technology Systems, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of District applications and software.
Recordkeeping, Reporting, and Inventory
- Assist in writing manuals and document current network procedures.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Document all issues, activities, and resolutions using consistent and clear language.
- Utilize knowledgebase and suggest documentation improvements.
Policy and Law
- Perform other duties, as assigned by the Director of Infrastructure Network Operations, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of District network infrastructure services.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
- Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification :
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field of study with a network engineering focus (preferred)
- CCNA Certification required
- CCNA R&S, CCNP, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCIE R&S certifications (preferred)
Experience :
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of IT and systems application experience
- Experience working with server technologies (preferred)
SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft, Apple, and Google MDM environments.
- Ability to summarize complex technical issues both orally and in writing, and to justify recommendations for large-scale network changes and implementations.
- Ability to review and approve testing and implementation plans for proposed solutions.
- Ability to develop and implement procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of processes of varying levels of complexity and develop changes or alternatives.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
- Skills in problem-solving, attention to detail, prompt documentation, time management.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to work in collaboration with staff that have varying technology skills as well as work independently when necessary.
- Ability to problem-solve application systems as it applies to projects.
- Ability to work with systems, networks, and other groups in Technology Support Services to effectively communicate changes and technical problems to get them resolved in a timely manner.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating project needs and implementation timelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
