Description
Granite Point is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our St. Louis Park, MN based team. A successful candidate must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment possessing strong leadership attributes with the ability to collaborate across multiple functional areas.
The ideal candidate should have experience in the commercial real estate industry, including mortgage lending, mortgage servicing and real estate owned operations. The candidate must demonstrate intellectual capacity to collaborate on complex matters and problem-solve. In addition, the candidate must promote a positive work culture and develop internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities Include :
- Collaborate with departments across the Granite Point organization on gathering and reporting critical information for management decision making
- Research GAAP literature, draft technical memorandums, and illustrate new transactions in slide decks for management’s review
- Compile supporting documentation for monthly financial information and periodic SEC filings including annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Qs and assist with SEC filings
- Process transaction activity for commercial real estate loans, including loan boarding, origination deferrals, remittances, and other activity related to loan portfolio
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare yield analyses for investments and related debt
- Document and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Develop relationships with internal and external audit to ensure proper controls and process testing
- Assist investor relations with external communications
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury and Tax to update forecasting models using automated reports and data from systems
Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Accounting and CPA preferredPublic accounting experience preferred3-5+ years in the financial services industry, preferably with a focus on the commercial real estate industry and in a public company environmentStrong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysesStrong process management skills with experience in designing and managing projects and developing and enhancing systems, operational structure and proceduresStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and manage at all levels of the organizationStrong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate peers to achieve resultsStrong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting software packagesTrack record of demonstrating good decision making and strategic disciplineMust be able to work in the office for a minimum of three full working days out of a five day work week and have the willingness and ability to work longer hours during critical deadlines as needed
