Position Overview :
The Service Manager performs all duties of Food and Beverage Staff Members. The Service Manager is responsible for aiding the Food and Beverage Managers with effective planning, organization, and management of all food and beverage operations and specifically with wait staff.
This role requires supporting the Food and Beverage Director with staff management, maintaining quality standards, ensuring health and safety compliance and additional tasks outlined by the Food and Beverage Director.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties :
- Recruit, train and supervise front of house F&B staff and services.
- Perform performance evaluations, providing feedback, recognition, and addressing performance issues promptly.
- Schedule and coordinate work shifts, manage labor costs and ensure staff performance meets quality and service standards.
- Maintain a high level of service and customer satisfaction in food and beverage areas.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, allowing staff members to take ownership of their roles and contribute to the operation’s success.
- Hold team accountable to hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Directly oversee F&B Shift Supervisors.
- Communicate food and beverage needs with the Food and Beverage Director as well as the shift supervisor to ensure smooth operations throughout the property.
- Share feedback on food and beverage staff performance.
- Submit detailed end of shift recaps to the F&B and Operations team.
- Contribute to regular meetings to share information, address team concerns, and discuss updates.
- Utilize inventory management software to track stock levels, orders, and product usage.
- Ensure and maintain a strong knowledge of menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods and special items.
- Aid and support staff members during busy periods or with complex transactions.
- Ensure staff members follow health and safety regulations, alcohol service laws, and other relevant guidelines.
- Create policies and procedures and train staff on these protocols.
- Recommend measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety.
- Continually train team members in service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, alcohol service laws, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain all required licenses and permits.
- Ensure food and beverage staff is up to date and current on any necessary certifications.
- Perform audits regularly to ensure food safety.
Attributes and Requirements :
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Food Service Management, or related field preferred.
- Several Years of experience in food and beverage management with a strong understanding of customer service.
- Knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in POS systems and restaurant management systems.
- Familiarity with financial and budget management.
- Current Texas Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Current TABC Certificate or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
