Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Supervisor shall assist in day to day operations of the QA Department including but not limited to: implementing and monitoring all Food Quality and Food Safety Programs, overseeing and supporting QA Technicians as necessary, conduct control point direct observations, environmental sampling, document review, document management, product evaluations and QA Tech training (orientation & routine refresher).

Educational Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in science related field (i.e. Food Science/Manufacturing, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Business or Science, etc.) is preferred but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Competency in basic math, computer & writing skills

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Good working knowledge of GMP’s, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and food manufacturing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required
  • HACCP – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point formalized training preferred
  • Experience leading others and being led as part of a successful, functional team
  • Spanish comprehension preferred, but not required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, Schedule and Coordinate Quality Assurance Technicians
  • Mentor, support and train QA techs on all quality, food safety and personnel safety guidelines
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with established quality and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining the facility at “audit-ready” status, both in manufacturing environment and record keeping.
  • Monitor and enforce all GMP / Food Safety compliance
  • Review, date and sign daily HACCP CCP documentation
  • Conduct QA Supervisor Daily Checklist
  • Oversee and support with daily Pre-Op Inspections as necessary
  • Support Techs with appropriate response and actions associated with CCP deviations, foreign material investigations, allergen spills/cross contact, non-conforming material dispositions and all associated documentation
  • Prepare, pack and ship customer samples as requested
  • Conduct Direct Observations of quality and food safety control points
  • Support QA Receivers with incoming raw material inspections and dispositions as needed
  • Verify or oversee calibration of laboratory equipment and documentation
  • File, archive and dispose of records as appropriate
  • Enforce proper use of PPE and OSHA Guidelines
  • Assist QA Management in other tasks or projects as requested
