The Referral Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of specialty medication referrals. Acting as both a process monitor and escalation point, this role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and timely resolution of issues. Specialists will align to one of two team focuses- client-facing or technology-facing -after hire. Both require strong written communication, problem-solving skills, and comfort navigating multiple systems.
Core Responsibilities :
Monitor referral workflows (40%)
Track onboarding, eligibility updates, and therapy adherence.
Proactively identify delays, exceptions, or red flags in the referral lifecycle.
Referral management (20%)
Manually reassign referrals when automatic routing fails.
Notify pharmacies, prescribers, and internal teams of changes.
System analysis & issue tracking (20%)
Identify recurring routing / logic issues and log tickets in Jira.
Collaborate with IT and operations to improve system efficiency.
Escalation handling (20%)
Serve as Tier 2 support for urgent client or pharmacy concerns.
Research cases, resolve process bottlenecks, and communicate updates to clients.
