Job Summary

  • Under general supervision of the Payroll Manager, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, research, analyze and retrieve data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records, summaries and reports;
  • reconcile differences within established payroll and accounting systems using critical analysis skills; interpret, explain and comply with prescribed laws, rules, regulations, and procedures;
  • monitor, audit, reconcile, and balance a variety of data and transactions; perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately;
  • identify and correct errors; operate a variety of standard office equipment; set up and maintain database and related files;
  • create spreadsheets and other related forms, reports and documents; use independent judgment to review payroll records; communicate effectively in both oral and written form;
  • follow detailed directions; set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines; coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously;
  • work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work;

train other staff, as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to get along with others. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of four years of payroll, Accounts Payable, or bookkeeping experience or two years of college work with concentration on business or accounting and one year of payroll, Accounts Payable, or bookkeeping experience Basic understanding of general ledger reconciliations.
  • Advanced knowledge of data entry and spreadsheets with the ability to develop Excel-based models designed to calculate and verify complex payroll calculations.
  • Solid understanding of Payroll information systems and data management.
  • Ability to work in high volume environment and to meet processing schedules and deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft (Human Capital Management) and Kronos timekeeping is highly preferred.
