The Engineer II, Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of integrated Systems / Subsystems that include electronic controls and rotating hardware used in electric systems for military and commercial aircraft.
The applicant will apply principles and techniques of electrical / electronic engineering to ensure design preparation is in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements and standard work practices;
interfaces with various functional groups to coordinate design and engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service.
Determines and prepares procedures for testing products; documents result of design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses.
Onsite :
Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work onsite. This position is eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Interface with Customer, Project, Chief Engineer, and Program office.
- Requirements management, decomposition, and flow down.
- Preliminary and detailed design.
- Development and qualification testing.
- Prepares design, data, and analysis in accordance with program requirements and customer specifications.
- Generating System Requirement Documents.
- Generating LRU Requirements Documents.
- Creating controller models using MATLAB / Simulink.
- Integrate MATLAB / Simulink control and plant models.
- Electric system load analysis.
- Perform High Level requirement validation and testing on desktop simulations.
- Establish verification methodology.
- Coordinate Test Facility Requirements.
- Perform system integration and subsystem level testing in Development Test facilities.
- Support aircraft and customer lab testing.
- Execute system engineering Standard Work (SW).
- Provides technical assistance to manufacturing as required.
Qualifications / Experience Needed :
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering function is required.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications :
- DC system and battery expertise.
- Utility and load management experience.
- Motor control (induction and PM) (senseless and sensed) experience.
- System engineering Aircraft Electric Power System design (generation, distribution, communications, or BITE) with experience in requirements generation, requirements validation, requirements management, simulation development, system verification planning, and system testing.
