Product Designer - Homecentre Concept

POSITION OBJECTIVE :

Provide design direction and product development in line withcommercial strategy brand style and department standards. Keep aconsistent design direction across various categories(Home DcorWall Dcor Indoor Garden & Lighting) using the brand styleguide.

Work closely with buying teams to deliver a commerciallydriven and balanced assortment across hard goods householdcategories.

As aproduct designer you will be responsible for conceptualizingdesigning and developing hard good products (Home Dcor Wall DcorIndoor Garden & Lighting)

ArtDirection and Style Guidance

Deliver the seasonal designthemes directional boards in line with global trends and homecentre customer taste and commercial calendar (concept colourpalette product direction print direction design briefs etc.)

Research and analyse actively the Design Watchand its communication within the company (Exhibitions reports fairsterritory visits etc.)

Facilitate the globaltrend direction and coordination through the Home Centre StyleGuide.

As a product designer for hard goods your primaryresponsibility will be to create innovative and functional designsfor various products.

You will work closely with buyers& manufacturers to develop products that meet the needs ofthe target market. This involves conducting market researchcreating sketches and prototypes and testing the product forfunctionality and durability.

Designer will beresponsible for ensuring that the products adhere to industrystandards and regulations also making necessary modifications tothe design to meet these standards.

To excel in this roleyou will In terms of technical skills proficiency in computeraideddesign (CAD) software is a must.. You must also have a goodunderstanding of materials and manufacturing processes to ensurethat your designs are feasible and costeffective.

Creativity is at the core of product design and as suchyou must possess a strong sense of aesthetics and be able to thinkoutside the box.

You should also have a good understanding offunctional design and the ability to design products that areuserfriendly and visually appealing.

Conduct regularcompetitor and middleeast market analysis.

As a productdesigner you will be working with a team and the ability tocollaborate and communicate effectively is crucial for the successof the project.

Product Design

Deliver hard goods product design which are feasible andcommercially viable and aspirational in line with customer needs.

Prepare design briefs making specifications productmockups detailing the materials measurements techniques &components of each design in line with defined price points.

Effective coordination and close collaboration withfactories / suppliers / buyers for design selections range building andproduct development.

Deliver high quality and reliabledeliverables following company standards.

Ensure theachievement of the timelines and departmental critical path.

Support the Commercial Team by giving clear stylingdirection and guidance on product development / coordination

JOB SPECIFICATION

Postgraduate or Diploma in Product Design / Interior Design orequivalentTechnical and creative skills. Additionally a strongportfolio showcasing your design skills and experience is crucialin landing a job as a product designer for hard goods.

Relevant experience in home industry at least10years Design & manufacturing experience in amulticategory from Home and format retail set up.

Middleeastspecific experience is a plus.

Leadership andcollaboration capabilities required. High creativity skills (artdirection graphics product curating design direction)

Excellent Knowledge about homeware products.

Professional skillset on design process andCAD tools (Adobe Photoshop Illustrator Keynote etc.) Detailoriented and excellent team player.

Planningand Organizing skills. Good technical knowledge on materials andprocesses during product development (hard goods ideally)
