- Under administrative direction, the Patient Flow RN Manager (PFM) oversees the Patient Flow Department and supports the hospital's patient flow objectives, as they relate to patient placement assignments, customer service and capacity optimization
- Manages the assignments of all patients requiring nursing unit bed assignments, including observation, inpatient and post-procedural
- This is attained by collaborating with physicians, nursing and diverse hospital departments to assign patients according to units' scope of service, admission criteria, patient flow algorithms and hospital protocols
- Leads multiple and continually changing priorities to make rapid decisions, problem solve and ensure appropriate, timely assignment of patient beds
- Maintains strong collegial interdepartmental relationships to ensure ongoing performance improvements
