During your internship, you will rotate throughout the following positions to gain a complete knowledge of our front-of-house operations, which include multiple outlets.

The candidate will assist with planning, directing, and controlling restaurant service and operations, resulting in a superior dining experience for all resort patrons utilizing their internship’s Food & Beverage venues.

The duration of the internship will be June / August 2024 .

Overview :

The program's first month is designed to introduce the intern to Sun Valley Resort's core values, strategic goals, and basic operations.

During their first few days, the interns will complete the necessary paperwork, tour the resort, and be introduced to the property's multiple food and beverage outlets.

The remainder will be spent orienting and familiarizing the intern with the standard operating procedures of the restaurant.

The intern will be introduced to Sun Valley Food & Beverage-specific training manuals, steps of service, and menus.

Company orientation with Human Resources includes training on pertinent IT systems, Sun Valley Resort's history, management team introduction, employee handbook, and Resort Standard Operating Procedures.

The participant will tour the property and learn about things to do and see around Sun Valley, Idaho. Topics covered in orientation include, but are not limited to, service standards, resort safety and security, emergency procedures, benefits, appearance standards, standards of conduct, and attendance policy.

Shadow the Food & Beverage management team with hiring, scheduling, supervision, and control of cashiers, supervisors, greeters, servers, and bus attendants.

The participant will be supervised and evaluated daily through a training checklist other restaurant staff members, including the front-of-house manager and the Head Chef.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Ensure that meals are served professionally and timely by circulating within the outlet and communicating with the kitchen and the order takers.
  • Monitor and supervise set up and maintenance of room service area to ensure it is up to standard.
  • Ensure availability of manpower, supplies, and equipment to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Assists in creating daily floor plans and rotations for each outlet. Ensures coverage and monitors timekeeping and absenteeism, making necessary adjustments in the company's best interest.
  • Attend pre-meal meetings and conduct ongoing employee training to ensure employees continue improving their performance.
  • Responsible for daily supervising and maintaining product quality and service to our guests.
  • Maintains clean and organized storage areas, plus the facility, physical plant, and equipment; submits and follows up on work orders to ensure completion of projects.
  • Provide direct service to guests as needed, including, but not limited to, serving tables, bussing tables, seating guests and general clerical / cashier duties.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
  • Constantly observes quality service standards and handles any guest complaints

Qualifications :

  • Currently enrolled in a hospitality and resort management or restaurant management program at an accredited university.
  • Must be familiar with commonly accepted standards of etiquette and decorum relating to dining service.
  • Must have an updated Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
