Chef Assisted Living

Position Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to oversee the preparation and presentation of nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in our assisted living community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care, a commitment to excellence, and a strong understanding of dietary needs specific to older adults.

Key Responsibilities :

Plan and prepare balanced meals that meet the nutritional and dietary requirements of residents, including modified diets (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, mechanical soft, etc.).

Ensure all meals are attractive, flavorful, and served on time.

Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff and food service operations.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, following state and local food safety standards.

Manage food inventory and place orders to ensure adequate stock levels.

Work collaboratively with healthcare and administrative staff to meet resident preferences and health requirements.

Create rotating menus and accommodate special events, holidays, and themed meals.

Train and mentor culinary staff to uphold quality and service standards.

Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary training preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of culinary experience, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, or hospitality setting.

ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Knowledge of nutrition and special dietary needs for the elderly.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Working Conditions :

Standing for extended periods.

Exposure to kitchen heat and equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
