AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to be based in our Germantown, MD office. This position will support our EHS team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin December 2022.
Job Overview :
This is an entry-level position in AECOM’s Environment Business Line within the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Technical Practice Area;
position will report to the EHS Department in AECOM’s Germantown, Maryland.
The Environmental Scientist will work under supervision of a project manager or senior level team member on a variety of EHS projects, including but not limited to environmental compliance plans, environmental permitting, environmental site assessments, and subsurface investigations.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior level team member on a variety of EHS projects, including but not limited to environmental compliance plans and permitting, environmental site assessments, and subsurface investigations.
- Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Entry-level position; may not require previous experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent technical writing and organizational skills
- Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, and Excel.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work.
- Willingness / ability to be in the field and travel
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Additional Information :
- Relocation is not available for this position.
- Travel is required for this position. Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.
- Candidates may be asked to submit to a Medical Surveillance screening upon hire and / or participate in HAZWOPER training.
