Space Systems Program Manager / Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME)

KBR is seeking a highly motivated self-starter, adaptable to a fast-paced exciting environment as a Space Systems Program Manager / Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) , to support the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) at WPAFB, Ohio .

The Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) is the joint USAF & USSF acquisition course in which the Department of the Air Force (DAF) choose only the most highly qualified applicants to attend through a competitive selection process.

Under the U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff’s direction, the DAF established AQIC to integrate acquisition into the Air Force Weapons School.

The AQIC resides as Detachment 2 (Det 2) under the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) with the purpose to cultivate military and civilian instructors within the acquisition force who are skilled in tactical acquisition, instructorship, and operational integration.

Within small class sizes, the DAF intentionally designed AQIC to mirror the training methodology, organization, and rigor of the USAF Weapons School curriculum.

This is a rare opportunity to provide cutting-edge SME support developing the best and brightest young acquisition officers and professionals into expert instructors and integrators who are deliberately and strategically placed throughout the acquisition enterprise to tackle the USAF and USSF toughest problems.

This is not a remote job opportunity. The applicant must be local to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Position Description :

Performs the following duties in support of the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) :

  • Provide product support through experiential instructorship as it relates to the Federal Dept of Defense, and Dept of the Air Force Contracting discipline.
  • Responsible for developing curriculum, instructing students, facilitating meaningful discussions, and enabling student-centered active learning using classrooms and technology.
  • Producing and delivering coursework on program management or systems engineering concepts and processes for each phase of the Defense Acquisition System and considerations for non-DoD 5000.

02 acquisitions such as FY16 NDAA Section 804 Rapid Fielding and Rapid Prototyping and DevSecOps software acquisition

  • Developing curriculum, instruct students, facilitate discussions, and enable student-centered active learning using classrooms / technology available at AQIC and conduct consulting for same as necessary to ensure students graduate with a firm grasp of the range of options available to a program at various phases of the product life cycle
  • Additional duties include, but not limited to, evaluating students across various graded events (exercises, exams, briefings, etc.

serving as research paper advisor / evaluator, and providing continuous feedback to the military cadre on how to improve the course flow.

Required Experience :

  • Demonstrated professional knowledge with 10 years of specialized experience in program management, systems engineering or relevant professional career field
  • Demonstrated understanding of contacting management, life-cycle logistics, systems engineering, and financial management and their relationship to program management or systems engineering activities specific to space systems and programs highly desirable
  • Ability to effectively translate new program management or systems engineering initiatives into course objectives, lesson objectives, measurable samples of behavior, meaningful exercises and relevant student evaluations related to space systems and programs
  • Ability to instruct Orbital Warfare, to include satellite maneuvers in visualized in relative and / or earth centric frames.
  • Ability to instruct Electronic Warfare, to include platform maneuvers across the electro-magnetic spectrum.
  • Ability to explain Space Battle Management, to include different Command Relationships.
  • Ability to perform required tasks in support of students / clients understanding of Space Acquisition Program Management and / or Systems Engineering to offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of related DoD policies and practices
  • Familiar with and understand Department of the Air Force Instructions, DoD instructions, and applicable space-related supplements
  • Familiarity with Space Force baseline management procedures and budget execution to include an understanding of cost, schedule, and performance in doing health evaluation of program / project
  • Familiarity with the CJCSI 5123.01I, Department of the Air Force’s Program Integration Council, and the Space Warfare Analysis Center’s planning processes.
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic, administrative, and technical subject matters.
  • Ability to travel out of local area 25% of calendar year if needed.

Required Education : An earned bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with demonstrated teaching ability. A Master of Science degree (or higher) and / or professional teaching experience of adult students is highly desirable.

Security Clearance Requirement : Eligible to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance background check investigation and possess a government common access card (CAC)
