Position Overview
The Product Development Engineer will be an onsite engineering representative working with Industrial Engineering and Design Engineering.
You will work with a cross functional team to develop best practices for design and manufacturing of new Lithium-ion modules, battery packs, and accessories.
Areas of Focus
Develop next generation technology, make process improvements to existing products / processes, troubleshooting of design issues, and identify quality issues of next generation battery packs.
Responsibilities
- Work with design engineers to identify product issues.
- Work with industrial engineering group to troubleshoot industrial process equipment.
- Support quality group in root cause analysis, setting CPQP requirements.
- Support manufacturing in critical to process requirements, setting EPS to aide in clarity.
- Create and maintain material specification documents.
- Create equipment specifications and requirements for quoting packages.
- Set FAT and SAT documentation for internal and external acceptance of industrial process equipment.
- Develop work instructions SOS / JES for new processes.
- Support new product development process through prototype builds
- DFM of new products
- Creation and maintenance of PFMEA for new products
- Support capability studies on internal components and required processes.
- Use CAD to develop new concepts Tooling, Fixturing, Assembly Aides, BOM components.
- BOM and Process Routing creation
- Support FAI and PPAP on BOM components and procured items.
- Fluent in English speaking, reading, and writing with ability to author reports and produce manuals.
Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in EE / ME or equivalent
- Direct experience with fabrication techniques (Mill, Drill Press, lathe)
- Proficient in CAD modeling, preferably Solidworks & AutoCAD
- Experience with various manufacturing processes
- Experience with a variety of materials (metals, plastics, etc.)
- A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
