Job Summary

AECOM Environment is searching for a Part Time Casual Senior Ecologist / Ecological Restoration Specialist at our Clifton, NJ location.

This position will be part of our Northeast US Environmental Planning and Permitting Practice. This individual will support several high priority projects in the northeast US, including NJ, NY and New England including critical green infrastructure, cont.

sediments and ecological restoration projects. We are seeking someone with experience in the fields of natural resource management, wetlands ecology, environmental permitting and have additional specific experience in ecological restoration feasibility, assessment, design and implementation in a wide range of inland and coastal habitats.

Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and habitats in NJ, NY and New England highly desirable as well some experience with NRDA evaluations preferred.

Prior experience in environmental consulting, industry or research highly desirable. Professional Certifications in Wetlands Science, Ecology or Ecological Restoration desirable.

Some local / regional travel required; strong environmental permitting skills and knowledge of land use laws in the northeast desirable.

Strong communication skills desired and leadership skills preferred. Prior work with natural resource assessments / restoration on contaminated sediment / soils sites also desirable.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Biology, Env. Science, Ecology, Wetlands Science or related field
  • 12+ years of professional experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and / or education
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work performed
  • Valid Driver License Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in engineered natural treatment systems / green infrastructure / bioswales desired
  • MS / PhD preferred
  • Experience with NRDA evaluations
  • Professional Certifications in Wetlands Science, Ecology or Ecological Restoration

Non-Exempt Position : Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

The hourly range for this position is $68.00 - $80.00
