One Stop Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: OSS) is a San Diego-based publicly traded technology company and global leader in enterprise class compute solutions for AI/ML, sensor fusion, and autonomy at the demanding 'edge.' OSS designs and manufactures the highest performance compute and storage products that enable these rugged AI, sensor fusion and autonomous mobile capabilities without compromise. These hardware and software platforms bring the latest enterprise class data center performance and technology to the harsh and challenging applications, whether they are on land, sea or in the air.

OSS products include ruggedized servers, compute accelerators, flash storage arrays, and storage acceleration software. These specialized rugged and compact products are used across multiple industries and applications, including commercial autonomous applications, as well as aircraft, drones, ships, and vehicles within the defense industry.

The company has annual sales in excess of $60 million, is profitable, cash flow positive, enjoys a solid cash position without domestic debt and has target growth plans in excess of 20% a year. Our markets have significant tail winds being driven by the high priority within the DOD to add AI and/or Autonomous capabilities throughout the military theater as well as strong economic pull within the commercial segment. The market opportunity for OSS types of products is expected to grow to over $2 billion in size.

Position Overview: The Senior Buyer is responsible to purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. There will be some commodity management as well as program management as part of the NPI process. The job holder may take responsibility for a specific project or hold a larger remit in terms of purchasing responsibility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Researches, analyzes, forecasts, and monitors supply chain trends for critical high-performance computing and ruggedized system components, including GPUs, DDR4/DDR5 memory, printed circuit boards (PCBs), custom metalwork, and liquid cooling components.
  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers.
  • Navigates procurement between authorized distributors, including suppliers such as Arrow and Avnet, and qualified component brokers to source highly allocated, long-lead-time, or obsolete parts. Ensures all broker-sourced material is new, authentic, traceable, and protected from counterfeit risk.
  • Collaborates closely with Engineering and Operations on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Bill of Materials (BOM) updates, and material disposition decisions, including use-up, rework, replacement, or other strategies for affected components.
  • Evaluates, obtains quotes for, and coordinates material requirements with external Contract Manufacturers (CMs), including full-turnkey assembly partners.
  • Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
  • Develop creative and innovative procurement processes.
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and method.
  • Assesses financial risks of purchases.
  • Maybe required to attend trade shows, seminars and conferences to maintain understanding of new products and trends in our industry.
  • May act in place of the Purchasing Manager as required and authorized.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • At least five years or more of purchasing experience required, preferably in the electronics industry.
  • APICS Certification a plus.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS requirements and defense-contracting procurement practices preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, specifically CSI (CloudSuite Industrial / SyteLine), including the use of material demand and purchasing.
  • Experience with Google GWS.
