Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs our Registrar, you will be the frontline representative for patient admissions, ensuring a streamlined and efficient intake process. You will play a critical role in facilitating accurate demographic and insurance information collection, vital for timely and appropriate reimbursement.
Every day you will register and pre-register patients, minimizing wait times and ensuring all required documents and signatures are obtained. You will meticulously verify insurance eligibility and benefits, process co-payments, and provide detailed notes in the computer system for all payer-related and patient communications.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous clerical experience, with a minimum of one year in prior authorization, precertification, and insurance benefits within a hospital registration or medical office setting. Proficiency in medical terminology and experience with an EMR system (Cerner preferred) are essential.
- Registers/pre-registers patient in a timely manner, as evidenced by minimal to no patient waiting and minimal registration time.
- Obtains accurate and complete patient information for the registration process.
- Completes medical record requests within department guidelines.
- Provides adequate notes in computer system by documenting all payer related information, patient issues, physician office communications and any account related communication.
- Ensures correct forms are filled out and signed for each registration, payer-related forms, COA, Medicare notification letters.

Job RequirementsRequired
- High School graduate or GED
- Previous experience in a clerical setting
- Typing speed 30 wpm
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Computer skills
Preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in prior authorization precertification insurance benefits and how they apply to hospital registration or medical office setting.
- Medical terminology
- Previous experience with an EMR; Cerner Current BLS certification
