CNC Lathe/Mill Machinist
Location: Fresno, CA
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe/Mill Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and producing precision-machined components using CNC lathes and milling machines. The ideal candidate has strong blueprint reading skills, can perform machine setups independently, and is committed to producing high-quality parts while maintaining production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities CNC Machine Operation

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC milling machines.
  • Load materials, tooling, and programs into machines.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure parts meet required specifications.
  • Perform machine adjustments and tool offsets as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.

Blueprint & Precision Measurement

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.

Quality Control

  • Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with customer and engineering specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues affecting quality or productivity.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.

Machine Setup & Maintenance

  • Perform machine setups and changeovers for new jobs.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling and fixtures.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and operational.
  • Report equipment issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Properly handle materials and equipment to prevent damage or injury.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
  • Experience operating both CNC lathes and CNC mills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of machining tolerances and geometric dimensions.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • CNC setup experience.
  • Experience editing CNC programs at the machine.
  • Knowledge of G-Code and M-Code programming.
  • Experience with Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Mori Seiki, or similar CNC equipment.
  • Manufacturing or job-shop environment experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and move materials throughout the production area.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-Time
  • Monday–Friday
  • Overtime as needed
  • Pay: DOE (Depending on Experience)
