Job description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an EHS Manager in Chicago, IL (Rogers Park). The work will be done onsite, five days per week. This is a permanent opportunity with a compensation of up to $140k/yr (base + bonus) depending on experience. Additionally, this position includes and annual employee stock option plan contribution, plus full benefits including vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), holiday pay, and PTO.
About the Role
This is a plant-based EHS leadership role supporting a manufacturing facility with approximately 200–220 employees. The prior EHS lead left in October, and this hire will step into a standalone role — owning site-level safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement of all EHS programs.

The ideal candidate is a boots-on-the-ground safety leader who thrives in manufacturing settings, is comfortable interfacing with leadership and hourly employees, and can manage everything from shop floor audits to PPE programs and incident investigations.
Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary EHS lead onsite in Franklin

  • Oversee all health, safety, and environmental programs for a team of 200+

  • Conduct regular shop floor audits and hazard assessments

  • Lead daily startup safety meetings, new hire onboarding, and emergency response training

  • Manage incident investigations and corrective actions

  • Update and revise written safety programs and SOPs (many are outdated)

  • Maintain waste handling protocols and labeling per environmental compliance needs

  • Coordinate with the onsite occupational health nurse

  • Partner with site leadership on tooling, ergonomics, and engineering reviews

  • Support second shift presence and visibility (split coverage as needed)

  • Manage PPE supplies, vendor coordination, and employee fit/testing requirements

  • Provide ongoing safety training (~2 hours/week), including OSHA topics and ergonomics

  • Participate in safety committees, continuous improvement projects, and site audits

  • Support electrical safety programs including NFPA compliance and lockout/tagout reviews
Requirements

  • 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (required)

  • Familiarity with OSHA 1910, PPE standards, and accident investigations

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to lead meetings and training

  • Exposure to electrical safety, high voltage testing, or NFPA 70E is highly preferred

  • Experience auditing or managing hazardous waste programs is a plus

  • Ability to work independently and serve as the site’s EHS leader ("army of one")

  • Comfortable interacting with operators, engineers, maintenance, and senior leadership

  • Background as an EHS Coordinator or Safety Specialist looking to step up is welcome
