Job Title: Design Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Design Technician to perform design tasks for a variety of utility customers using AutoCAD. The role involves completing designs for associated utility projects and tasks such as drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation, design/construction cost estimating, and permit package development.
Responsibilities
- Draft and design utility projects using AutoCAD.
- Perform engineering calculations and validate easements.
- Estimate design and construction costs.
- Develop permit packages.
- Conduct surveys and oversee overhead and underground line inspections and testing.
- Document power distribution, compressors, and other related facilities.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure timely completion and high customer satisfaction.
- Review GIS Smallworld for updates or conflicts.
- Coordinate construction projects across multiple departments to meet deadlines and client needs.
- Incorporate company safety rules, design standards, and governing authority regulations into daily work.
- Design overhead and underground utility electric projects.
- Process permit files and decipher electronic pole diagrams.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Ability to pass a math/measurement assessment.
- Interest or experience in utility industry design, such as pole construction, drafting, fielding, or engineering.
- CAD experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with GIS Smallworld is a plus.
- Construction experience is advantageous.
- Associate's degree in design, drafting, engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to drive a personal vehicle for fielding.
Work Environment
The position involves a mix of field and remote work, with approximately 20% fieldwork that may increase to 45% depending on project needs. The office work is currently conducted from home, but there may be a transition to an office setting next year. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain entry-level experience in design within the utility industry.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centennial, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
