As a Principal Software Engineer I on the Spectrum TV team, you will drive technical architecture decisions and provide technical leadership to a high-performing front-end engineering team. You will architect, develop, and deploy impactful features for Charter's Spectrum TV customers across multiple streaming platforms including Xumo Stream Box, Xumo TV, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Xbox, Chromecast, and more. You will assess complex system trade-offs involving performance, scalability, timeline, and resource constraints. Additionally, you will evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices, strategically championing innovations that enhance product quality and development velocity.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Technical skills:Development experience in Angular and front-end web technologiesExpert knowledge and implementation with open source software such as Angular or ReactAngular, Micro Frontends, RESTful Web services, GraphQL, JSON, HTML5, JavaScript, Git, continuous integration testing, and Unit TestingJava, Spring, Google Guice, JPA/Hibernate, Databases (Relational and NoSQL), RESTful web services, AWS, Micro services, Netflix OSS, Jersey, SOAP web services, Axis, JMS, ESB’s, XML, XSD, XSL, JSON, HTML5, JavaScript, Apache open source libraries, Maven, Git, Eclipse/NetBeans/IntelliJ, continuous integration testing, shell scripting, RubyAdhere to best practices for code development, version control, continuous integration/delivery, and test/build automation.Comfortable defining and evangelizing mobile app and web technologies across the organizationFamiliarity with dependency management and build systems like Maven and AntExperience working with open source software such as Spring, Google Guice, Guava, Tomcat, and NoSQL solutions
• Skills:Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to define and develop technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.Participate in collaborations with business and technical teams to review conflicts/gaps between functional goals and existing capabilities.Thorough understanding of software engineering and object oriented design principlesDemonstrated in-depth and knowledge of front-end development across Java, mobile app and/or web technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive front-end development experience with ReactJS, TypeScript, and Redux
• Experience building web-based video streaming experiences on various 10-foot platforms such as:
• Samsung TV
• LG TV
• Vizio TV
• Xbox
• Chromecast
• Etc.
• Experience with various video players such as Shaka
• Experience with DRM and DAI technology and implementation
• Agile experience

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,660.00 and $196,460.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
