Since 2002, we have specialized in the maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, and other applicable equipment for the medical field. We work on a variety of medical scanner and other specialized trailers that are mobile, fixed-site units and imaging center buildings. A DAY IN THE LIFE AN APPRENTICE REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN

As a Apprentice Refrigeration Technician, you ask questions, observe, and emulate the values we adhere to here at Diablo Thermal Systems, Inc. You go out in the field with refrigeration technicians to hospitals and imaging centers throughout Northern California, from Fresno to Arcata. As you assist them, they mentor and train you on everything from responding to emergency service dispatches to performing preventative maintenance.

Most of the equipment is located outside on parked mobile units, in ground-level caged areas, or on building rooftops. There are a wide variety of equipment types and manufacturers with proprietary controls, making the job interesting and challenging. From time to time, you even have opportunities to help work on specialized cooling systems for printing presses, semiconductor process equipment, mobile TV broadcasts, and research trailers.

You are a hard worker who does whatever is needed to keep or get customers equipment running properly and pays close attention to what you're being taught. You enjoy interacting with clients and fellow employees. You are a life-long learner, curious and interested in expanding your knowledge and skills. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENTRY TO MID LEVEL APPRENTICE REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN

• As part of the interview process, complete quick assessment testing online and approve of background check
• Already have EPA Certification or the ability and willingness to get EPA certification within 90 days (we can provide study material and guidance
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability and willingness to work weekends and on-call for emergencies when needed
• Ability and willingness to travel overnight occasionally
• Customer service skills. Ability to work with stressed out individuals due to circumstances affecting their ability to do their work. Skills that are a plus:
• Basic carpentry skills
• Automotive repair / Maintenance
• Familiarity with Diesel engines and generators
• Basic or advanced electrical skills
• Plumbing
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
• Ability to safely ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability and willingness to work in variable weather conditions

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a Monday - Friday job, however occasionally work is scheduled on weekends, requiring flexibility at times. New hires will receive on-the-job training with one of our seasoned technicians. After training is complete, the morning start time is negotiable between the hours of 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM and you would be included in the on-call rotation, as we provide 24/7 emergency service. Extended hours are common during extremes in outdoor temperatures and our peak seasons which include the entire summer, December, and January.
