Job Description
Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Health Care Litigation Attorney to join a respected national law firm with openings in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Sacramento . This position offers an exciting opportunity to represent major health systems, hospitals, and providers in high-stakes litigation while working within a collaborative, business-focused practice.
If you have strong experience in health care reimbursement litigation or related business disputes, and you’re ready to take on complex, high-profile cases with sophisticated clients, this role offers both challenge and growth.
About the Role
The Health Care Litigation Attorney will handle a broad range of health care-related matters, including reimbursement disputes, government investigations, shareholder and corporate litigation, and complex multiparty cases. You’ll work closely with a team of seasoned litigators representing hospitals, medical groups, and health care entities in both state and federal forums.
This is a great fit for an attorney who enjoys strategic litigation, thrives under pressure, and brings a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape impacting the health care industry.
Key Responsibilities
Represent health care providers, hospitals, and health systems in litigation involving reimbursement, business disputes, and government investigations.
Draft and argue motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and other complex litigation documents.
Handle reimbursement lawsuits against major health plans and insurers.
Review and negotiate contracts, settlements, and other legal agreements related to health care operations and reimbursement.
Participate in arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
Conduct legal research and stay current on changes in health care law and compliance.
Manage multiple cases independently, while coordinating with colleagues on strategy and client communication.
Qualifications & Skills
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
Licensed to practice law in California.
5+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on health care reimbursement or business-to-business litigation.
Experience handling complex discovery, case management, and trial preparation.
Strong understanding of federal and California health care laws, regulations, and reimbursement practices.
Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
Excellent client communication, case management, and organizational abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range : $200,000 – $275,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
Bonus Potential : Up to $112,500 based on performance.
