Key Responsibilities Collect and code ICD-10 diagnosis and PCS procedural codes based on inpatient coding guidelines Abstract data from various inpatient hospital case types and resolve coding validation and claim edits Utilize hospital encoding systems and resources for effective data presentation and interpretation Required Qualifications Associate degree or two years of college coursework in Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent work experience Minimum of 1 year inpatient facility coding experience or 3 years outpatient facility coding experience with at least 1 year in an acute care pediatric setting Completion of a PCS training program AHIMA - CCS or RHIT / RHIA or AAPC - CIC or CPC / COC with eligibility to obtain CCS or CIC within 6 months of hire Preferred : CCS or CIC at time of hire and experience in a pediatric acute care setting
