GEICO’s Cybersecurity organization has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Staff Software Developer – Cybersecurity Engineering & Analytics . This individual will play a key role within GEICO’s Cybersecurity Engineering & Analytics (CSEA) team, with a focus on building scalable enterprise-grade software that enables security automation and strengthens our cybersecurity posture.

Position Description :

As a Staff Software Developeronthe Cybersecurity Engineering & Analytics, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions that power GEICO’s cybersecurity initiatives. This role places critical emphasis on Python expertise as a core requirement for success. The ideal developer for this rolewill,design and deliver resilient, secure, and scalable systems through cross collaboration across Cybersecurity and IT teams to improve cyber hygiene.This individual will also act as a mentor to engineers within the team, championing software development best practices, secure coding, and modern DevOps approaches to delivery.

Position Responsibilities :

As a Staff Software Developer, you will :

• Develop Enterprise-Grade Software : Design, build, and evolve production-ready systems in Python (required) and other languages to enable cybersecurity capabilities, automate telemetry, and strengthen detection pipelines.
• Architect & Implement Solutions : Create robust, fault-tolerant, and secure services focused on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Drive Technical Strategy : Partner with engineering leadership to define and execute technical roadmaps that align with Cybersecurity and business objectives.
• Advance DevOps Practices : Integrate solutions with CI / CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, Ansible), and observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus).
• Leverage Open Source : Adopt, integrate, and contribute to open-source frameworks, tools, and security libraries.
• Champion Standards : Enforce best practices in coding quality, performance, testing, and documentation across the team.
• Mentor & Collaborate : Provide technical guidance to peers, foster cross-team collaboration, and promote a culture of engineering excellence.

$115,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate / annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
