Job description
Job Summary:

The Lead Technical Assistance role in Raleigh, NC, focuses on leading technical efforts for the NC Health Information Exchange Authority (HIEA). This position involves collaborating with participants and electronic health record (EHR) vendors to implement, improve, and maintain data integrations. The role supports and monitors the technical infrastructure of NC HIEA and SAS environments, manages change requests and bug fixes for the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal, and develops data queries and reports to support data analysis and business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure stability and performance of data exchange systems and applications.
  • Manage and coordinate change orders, bug fixes, and enhancements for the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal.
  • Develop and support complex data queries for data validation, transformation, and reporting.
  • Verify data extracts and monitor ETL (extract, transform, load) job streams.
  • Generate business analysis reports based on internal and external data requirements.
  • Use SQL, SAS, and InterSystems HealthShare tools to perform exploratory data analysis and generate insights.
  • Lead technical analysis efforts with detailed knowledge of EHR systems and data integration methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data architects, developers, analysts, and clinical stakeholders to ensure data quality and system reliability.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, and InterSystems HealthShare tools.
  • Subject matter expertise in clinical data, EHRs, HL7 v2, and C-CDA messaging standards.
  • Knowledge of health information exchange data standards, EHR data architecture, and clinical processes.
  • Understanding of IT architecture principles, technical design, and specification documentation.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare regulatory compliance related to EHR systems and HIE.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a technical analyst, data engineer, or related role in healthcare data and analytics.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience developing training materials or end-user reports focused on clinical data and system workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis and business reporting techniques.
Special Considerations:
  • Role requires interaction with clinical and technical stakeholders, necessitating clear communication skills.
  • Work involves managing complex healthcare data systems with strict regulatory compliance requirements.
Scheduling:
  • Regular daytime shift from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
  • Position duration is 10+ months with possibility of extension.
