We are seeking an experienced MF COBOL Developer to join our team and support the development and enhancement of mission critical Mainframe applications. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working on complex systems, collaborating with business and technical teams, and ensuring the reliability and performance of core enterprise platforms. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining Mainframe solutions that directly support business operations while contributing to modernization and continuous improvement efforts. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM to meet business and system requirements. Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional needs and translate them into effective technical solutions. Develop efficient, maintainable code for batch processing, online transaction processing, and supporting system utilities. Perform unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure high quality and reliable application performance. Integrate Mainframe applications with other enterprise systems, ensuring accurate and secure data exchange. Provide production support by diagnosing and resolving issues quickly to minimize business impact. Create and maintain clear technical documentation for applications, processes, and system configurations. Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices to support continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and project managers to deliver solutions on time and within scope. Contribute to Mainframe modernization initiatives, including the adoption of new tools, methodologies, or integration approaches. Required Skills and Qualifications Four or more years of hands on experience in Mainframe development. Strong expertise in COBOL programming for both batch and online applications. Experience working with JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. Proficiency with Mainframe development and debugging tools such as TSO ISPF and error diagnostic utilities. Solid understanding of SQL and DB2 database concepts. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Experience using version control tools such as Endevor or Git. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Mainframe modernization or integration with cloud and distributed systems. Familiarity with Agile or iterative development methodologies. Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe applications. Exposure to automated testing or CI processes in a Mainframe environment.
